OpenManga
A self-hosted platform for creating AI-generated manga, manhwa, webtoons, and narrated video content through structured story planning, image generation, character references, narration, and production workflows.
AI image models can draw a great single picture, but turning a whole story into a comic, webtoon or narrated video is a different problem: characters drift from panel to panel, costs are hard to predict, and the result is usually one giant prompt that is impossible to edit.
OpenManga treats it as a production pipeline instead. The story becomes structured state — cast, world, chapters, scenes, pages and panel specifications. Canonical character and location references keep identity consistent, every panel is generated cheaply and versioned, and lettering, layout, narration and exports are deterministic, so a creator can fix one panel without redoing a chapter.
It is built for independent creators and small channels who want to produce long-form illustrated stories on their own hardware and budget. It is self-hosted, bring-your-own-key for AI providers, sends no telemetry, can synthesise narration locally with Kokoro, and every text step can even be completed without an API key by pasting replies from a chat assistant.
It went public in September 2026 under the Apache-2.0 license and shipped seventeen releases in its first three weeks.

OpenManga v0.17.0
Panel shapes, custom page layouts, and wavy, torn or brush-stroke page and panel edges in the page editor.
The page editor can now give a panel a polygon outline — for slanted gutters, pointed tops and panels that slide into each other — and the art and borders follow that shape in renders, PDFs and layered exports.
Pages can be saved as reusable layouts for any project, and pages and panels can use wavy, torn-paper, rough, brush or burnt edges. The release also fixes dragging and resizing against the page edge.
